Meet Marvin

I needed a break.  Between editing a dissertation, writing dog columns and trying to work my way through the complexities of another grant proposal, I needed a break!  While the dogs are still my heart's joy, Marvin has definitely taken his place with Mr. Perfect, Evil Spawn et al as my "go-to" at times when I simply want to be happy, rejoice in the purely joyous nature only our four footed friends possess.

Marvin is a beautiful donkey in his forties whose view of the world seems to be that all is well as long as his order is maintained.  He is bright, kind, obedient, (usually), good with kids and dogs and one of the funniest furry people I know.  Marvin is also a rescue and belongs to my friend who took him in many years ago.  How anyone could have harmed this magnificent animal is beyond my abillity to comprehend.  Typical of rescues, Marvin holds no ill will toward the species that treated him badly.  Another walking miracle.

So, this is a simple introduction to Marvin, the donkey who loves his daily carrots, enjoys any and all veggies, makes a hellacious mess when he eats a watermelon, likes to be brushed and trims his own hooves.  He's friends with cows and sheep and, as lord of the manor, surveys his estate daily.  Simply, Marvin is a gift and I appreciate him more than he knows.
